Training Sessions - Chumpy & Nam
I'm in the final few weeks of my preparation before leaving home to compete on another World Cup Boardercross tour. It's summer in Australia and I am making the most of my last few sessions with Nam Baldwin to prepare in the best way I know how. More sessions of our training to come so stay tuned.
Pete Forras, a long time family friend and legend of skiing and snowboarding in Australia with his company XTM, which is also one of my sponsors has been geeing me up to come down his way for a tow session for many years. For whatever reason, its taken us a while to have a swell line up with free time. But finally it did and Cam and I weren't going to miss the opportunity to get out there with Pete and get our first taste of something new. All I can say is, i'm going to do everything I can to be there for the next big swell! It was so fun!
Drove down to Hotham once again for some late season training and racing this past Aussie winter. We scored it about as good as it gets and had some really fun heats on a really fun track under clear sunny skys. Also found a really nice waterfall down the back of Dinner Plain which was a bit of a hidden gem.
EPISODE 53 - Just prior to winter in the southern hemisphere, Ellidy and I got away for a month to jump onboard my folks yacht, Sea Whiskers. They were sailing from Eden over to New Caledonia, then onto Vanuatu before coming home again, total of 6 or so months. We flew into New Cal and spent the next 3 and a half weeks sailing around the Islands on the southern and east coast. It was pretty special.
Its a good day when you win. The track at Veysonnaz in Switzerland is the fastest in terms of top speed that we have on tour. We've clocked high 90Kms when theres a slight tail wind down the first steep straight. This was the second of 2 races there last season. My first day didn't pan out so great, ending up in traffic and crashing out in round 2. I had a better crack on day two and came away with the win. One of my favourite tracks on tour as it has good length, high speed and normally some good passing opportunities. Always a challenge to race. Looking forward to going back there in the back half of the up and coming season.
